The many benefits of talcum powder
Talcum
powder has a nostalgic effect on all of us. We can all remember our
grandmothers, mothers aunts, neighbours using fragrant talcs, like
lemon, menthol, lavender, rose, jasmine, etc, after a refresing shower.
The grocery list wasn't complete without a mention of talcum powders -
quite a few times, different fragrances for different members of the
family.
Once a staple on every woman's dresser, talcum powders had taken a backseat over the last decade with mists, colognes, eau de perfumes and deodrants overflowing from store shelves. But talc's importance couldn't be diminished for long. It has medicinal properties too. Talc absorbs moisture and reduces friction, thus minimising sweat production, and preventing fungal infections. Dr Mudasir Rashid Khan says, "If you suffer from sweaty feet or have rough patches on your feet, elbows, just rub a bit of antiperspirant powder on those areas. It's a great solution for cracked heels too. Keep it at hand throughout summer and winter. You can also dust some of it in your shoe to get rid of sweat odour."
Did you know that baby powder is a great aftershave for men, or even women after they shave their legs?
"After you shave your face or legs, just sprinkle baby powder on to the shaven area. Talcum powder has a natural cooling property that prevents any kind of irritation and leaves the skin silky smooth," adds Khan.
Smart ways to use talc

To remove grease stains: The next time you get a grease stain on your tee, sprinkle some talcum powder onto a cotton ball and dab it on the stain. Rub the powder really well to lighten the stain.
To prevent chafing: If you run or exercise regularly during summer, you may experience chafing on your feet and sometimes on your inner thighs. A little talcum powder will help clear it. Sprinkle it before going for a run to eliminate friction.
To ease waxing pain: Waxing often leaves the skin with redness and rashes. Apply a little talcum powder before waxing. The powder absorbs moisture and allows the wax to work better.

Take some talcum powder in a jar or dish and leave it in your closet or put some in a sachet and place it in your drawer.
