Expressing concern over the alarming rise in the criminalisation of politics, the Supreme Court on Thursday made it mandatory for political parties to provide justification for selecting candidates with a criminal background instead of a clean image candidate. After announcing a candidate, parties will have 48 hours to put all the information in public domain.
