The Supreme Court on Friday said that a large number of West Bengal panchayat seats going uncontested is a serious issue and allowed aggrieved persons 30 days time to challenge these results by filing election petitions. The SC allowed the notification of results of over 20,000 panchayat seats that were won by TMC unopposed in May. However, these seats could be the centre of election petition filed by the opposition parties party.
