While finance minister Arun Jaitley said that the exercise helped “formalised” the Indian economy, the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the scars of the “ill-fated” and “ill-thought” exercise are only getting more visible with time and the country is yet to understand the exercise’s full impact.
